Martinmas or What I Did with My Day Off

Philosophy 301

  • Finish reading the Kant assignment and write a lot of notes
  • Re-read a commentary on Kant
  • Prepare materials and argument for a classroom discussion of the death penalty as it was applied to John Allen Muhammed, one of the D.C. snipers
  • Write an outline of my end-of-term argumentative thesis on a practical ethics topic, with reference to at least one of the primary moral philosophers and supporting research based in the works of a lesser known philosopher
All of the above is due at 4:00 pm Thursday, so I guess I'll do all these first.

English 102

  • Write a six-page argumentative thesis, also on an ethical topic
  • Read four essays
  • Write summaries of four essays
  • Catch up on the reading in the composition manual

English 203

  • Read Pentecost, a play by David Edgar
  • Write seven interesting discussion points for class
  • Write an extra credit essay about the movie version of Equus
  • Write argumentative essay about Equus the play

Math 110

  • Design an information sheet for algebra final dealing with probability, expectation and the ancient game of craps

. . . and that, my dear, is what one does on a day off from class. By tomorrow night, the list will be even longer and less glamorous.
